No Bunnies Allowed in the Backyard
There is a herd of bunnies living in my neighborhood. I suppose the real word for that is a ‘warren of rabbits‘, but ‘herd of bunnies‘ sounds much cuter. And they are cute … except when they are naughty.
I had a nice morning glory growing up the trellis recently. Beautiful dark purple flowers all over it. I went out one morning and the vine was completely wilted. It had been chewed off at the bottom. Kinda made me want to cry.
Yes, the wild rabbits are cute but not so much when they eat my flowers. A few years ago, they ate all my miniature aloe plants which are only just now making a comeback.
On Easter morning this year, one rabbit hopped right up onto my deck and looked in the the french doors. It must have been the Easter Bunny!
So I’ve now blocked off the rabbit hole under the fence into the backyard. I can just hear Mrs. Rabbit saying, “Now my Dears, you can go down the lane to pick blackberries but don’t go into Mr. McGregor’s garden. Your father had an accident there. He was put into a pie by Mrs. McGregor.”
